In 4.º de 21,1x14,5 cm. Com [viii], 142, [ii em br.] págs. Encadernação de pergaminho da época sobre cartão com o título escrito à pena à cabeça da lombada. Cortes das folhas mosqueados de azul.

Impressão muito nítida com belos caracteres redondos e itálicos de grandes dimensões sobre papel de linho muito alvo.

Exemplar com etiqueta de livreiro no interior da encadernação, com letra R. em tinta coeva no verso da folha de guarda e com falta de um retrato de Santo António.

Muito raro, Palau (1990) não refere a obra e o autor. Não existem exemplares catalogados nas bibliotecas portuguesas, nem na Biblioteca da Hispanic Society of America, assim como nos catálogos de livreiros e de leilões. A Biblioteca Nacional de España possui três exemplares e existem mais cinco em várias outras bibliotecas espanholas. Existirá uma variante com 118 páginas no Arquivo Municipal de Huelva.

Muito importante para o estudo do culto a Santo António, em Espanha e, em especial, na diocese de Burgos e para a história local do Valle de Losa.

Obra de devoção a Santo António, para o venerar com orações durante 13 dias, nas terças-feiras de cada semana, por o seu dies natalis ser em 13 de Junho, perante a sua imagem que se encontra na Capela dos Lugares de Villaluenga y San Llorente, (ainda hoje existente) no Valle de Losa, ao norte da diocese de Burgos, na actual Comunidade Autónoma de Castilla y León, edificada pelo autor, que traduziu alguns dos textos a partir da biografia do Santo escrita em italiano por Lelio Mancini - Relazioni del gran santo di Padova, In Padoua, per Paolo Frambotto, 1654.

As páginas preliminares contêm uma dedicatória ao Rei de Espanha, Carlos III. As páginas 1 a 11 contém a maneira de realizar a tercena, incluindo o Acto de contrição, o Responsório de São Boaventura, Si quaeris miracula, com antífona e oração, com o texto em latim e as respectivas traduções em espanhol e o oferecimento a Santo António.

De página 12 à página 116, o autor apresenta os textos para cada dia, que consistem na descrição de alguma acção ou milagres do santo seguida de meditações, orações e recomendações de acções de caridade a executar pelos fiéis. As páginas 117 e 118 incluem uma saudação à Santíssima língua do santo e uma oração, ambas em latim. As páginas 119 a 142 contêm orações a Santo António para serem rezadas antes e depois dos sacramentos da Confissão e da Eucaristia.

Lelio Mancini (Montepulciano, c. 1577 - 1654) Escritor italiano, autor da rara biografia de Santo António referida acima, exerceu importantes cargos eclesiásticos em Pádua. É também autor de cerca de uma dezena de obras literárias e jurídicas

Very crisp printing with beautiful round characters and large italics on very fine linen paper.

Copy with bookseller's label on front pastedown, with letter R. in coeval ink on the back of the title page and missing a portrait of St Anthony.

Very rare. Palau (1990) doesn't mention the work or the author. There are no catalogued copies in Portuguese libraries, nor in the Hispanic Society of America Library, nor in booksellers' and auction catalogues. The Biblioteca Nacional de España has three copies and there are five more in various other Spanish libraries. There is a 118-page variant in the Huelva Municipal Archive.

Very important for the study of the cult of St Anthony in Spain and especially in the diocese of Burgos and for the local history of the Valle de Losa.

Work of devotion to St Anthony, to venerate him with prayers for 13 days, on Tuesdays of each week, for his dies natalis was on 13 June, in front of his image in the Chapel of the Places of Villaluenga and San Llorente, (which still exists today) in Valle de Losa, in the north of the diocese of Burgos, in what is now the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León, built by the author, who translated some of the texts from the biography of the saint written in Italian by Lelio Mancini - Relazioni del gran santo di Padova, In Padoua, per Paolo Frambotto, 1654.

The preliminary pages contain a dedication to the King of Spain, Charles III. Pages 1 to 11 contain how to perform the tercena, including the Act of Contrition, the Responsory of St Bonaventure, Si quaeris miracula, with antiphon and prayer, with the text in Latin and the respective translations in Spanish and the offering to St Anthony.

From page 12 to page 116, the author presents the texts for each day, which consist of a description of some of the saint's actions or miracles followed by meditations, prayers and recommendations for charitable actions to be carried out by the faithful. Pages 117 and 118 include a greeting and a prayer, both in Latin. Pages 119 to 142 contain prayers to St Anthony to be prayed before and after the sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist.

Lelio Mancini (Montepulciano, c. 1577 - 1654) Italian writer, author of the above mentioned rare biography of St Anthony, held important ecclesiastical posts in Padua. He is also the author of around a dozen literary and legal works.
