De 29,5x21,5 cm. Com [viii], 434, [ii em br.] págs. Encadernação da época inteira de pele com nervos e ferros a ouro na lombada. Corte das folhas levemente carminado.

Rosto impresso a preto e vermelho, com notável vinheta alegórica com 3 anjos, frutos e ornatos arquitectónicos, com a marca do impressor em círculo oval ao centro. Inclui cabeções ao início da dedicatória, dos índices e na primeira página numerada, apresentando este último novamente a marca do impressor; iniciais decoradas; florão de remate ao final da obra. Texto disposto em duas colunas.

Exemplar com falhas de pele na encadernação, principalmente nas coifas e cantos das pastas. Guarda anterior parcialmente solta. Apresenta picos de traça no verso das pastas e ao longo de todo o miolo, atingindo o texto desde a dedicatória até à página 25, sem impedir a leitura; pequenas manchas à cabeça das primeiras folhas causadas pelo carmim; leves manchas de humidade junto ao festo.

Com rasgo no canto superior junto ao corte da folha que contém as páginas 17/18; manchas de oxidação ao canto superior junto ao festo da folha que contém as páginas 203/204; corte superior das páginas 353-356 por aparar e com a margem inferior relativamente menor, sem afetar a mancha tipográfica. Tem algumas anotações marginais a tinta.

Erro na numeração da página 200 que tem 180.

Primeiras folhas não numeradas com dedicatória a Francisco Barreto, índice de alegações e licenças de Manuel Pimentel de Sousa, Valério de São Raimundo, entre outros. A partir da página 381 encontra-se um completo índice de assuntos até ao final do livro.

2.ª edição desta obra, tendo a primeira sido publicada em 1612 (Porto, Fructosum Laurentium do Basto), uma terceira em 1701 (Lisboa, Typographia Michaelis Deslandes) e uma quarta em 1731 (Coimbra, Ludovicum Secco Ferreira).

Tomé Vaz (Coimbra, 1553 – Porto, ca. 1620) formado em direito pela Universidade de Coimbra, exerceu a advocacia na cidade do Porto. Além da presente, é autor das seguintes obras: -Locupletissima, & utilissima explanationes in novam Justitiæ reformationem magna Doctorum authoritate, & juris ornamento condecoratæ publicada postumamente e escrita em português, não obstante o título em latim;-Commentarius ad Pregmaticas super sclopetis cum pedernalibus, manuscrito.

Title page printed in black and red, with remarkable allegorical vignette with 3 angels, fruits and architectural ornaments, with the printer"s device in an oval circle in the centre. Includes headpieces at the beginning of the dedication, the indexes and the first numbered page, the latter again bearing the printer"s device; decorated initials; finishing fleurons at the end of the work. Text arranged in two columns.

Copy with leather flaws on binding, mainly on the spine caps and corners of the folders. Front flyleaf partially loose. It presents moth holes on the pastedowns and throughout the core, reaching the text from the dedication to page 25, without preventing reading; small stains at the head of the first leaves caused by the red edges paint; light moisture stains near the inner hinge.

With tear at the top corner near the edge containing pages 17/18; oxidation stains at the top corner near the inner hinge of the leaf containing pages 203/204; upper cut of pages 353-356 untrimmed and with the lower margin relatively smaller, without affecting the text area. There are some marginal annotations in ink.

Error in the numbering of page 200 which has 180.
