As folhas com numeração romana incluem o prefácio de Gottsched, no qual este crítico compara o Armínio com os poemas homéricos, com a Eneida e com a Henriade de Voltaire, louvando o autor por ter escolhido um tema que exalta o nacionalismo alemão.

O poema, em 10 livros com os respectivos argumentos, traduzido em prosa, ocupa as páginas com numeração árabe.

Johann Christoph Gottsched (Mendeleyvo, 1700 – Leipzig, 1766) estudou na Universidade de Königsberg. Foi um dos mais importantes escritores, críticos e dramaturgos do iluminismo alemão e defendia a estrita observância das regras do classicismo francês.

The first unnumbered pages correspond to the title page. The pages with Roman numbering include the Foreword of Gottsched, in which this critic compares Armínio with the Homeric poems, with Virgil’s Aeneid, and Voltaire’s Henriade, prasing the author for having chosen a theme that glorifies the German nationalism.

The poem, in 10 books with their arguments, translated into prose, is printed on the pages with Arabic numbering.

Johann Christoph Gottsched (Mendeleyvo, 1700 – Leipzig, 1766) Studied at the University of Königsberg. He was one of the most important writers, critics and playwriters of the German illuminism, and he was strongly in favour of following the rules of the French classicism.
