Retrato em plano inteiro de Władysław Czartoryski, por volta dos seus 55 anos, com a cabeça vista de perfil em 3/4. Veste um casaco de pelo e tem a mão direita apoiada sobre uma luxuosa cadeira, com espaldar armoriado, e a esquerda numa espada embainhada à cintura.

Władysław Czartoryski (Varsóvia, 1828 – Boulogne-sur-Seine, 1894) foi um nobre polaco, ativista político exilado e colecionador de arte.

De 1863 a 1864, foi o principal agente diplomático do Governo Nacional Revolucionário (Rząd Narodowy) — uma autoridade suprema polaca clandestina durante a Revolta de Janeiro — junto dos governos inglês, italiano, sueco e turco.

Herdou a grande coleção de arte da família, à qual se dedicou a ampliar com objetos de arte egípcia adquiridos em Paris e no Egipto. Fez doações à Biblioteca Polaca de Paris, à Universidade Jagelónica de Cracóvia e ao Museu Polaco de Rapperswil na Suíça. Em 1865, organizou uma exposição da «Coleção Czartoryski» na «Sala Polaca» da Exposição de Artes Decorativas de Paris. Em 1878, reabriu o Museu Czartoryski em Cracóvia, fundado pela sua avó Izabela z Flemingów Czartoryska em 1801, em Puławy, mas encerrado após a Revolta de Novembro de 1830.

Casou em 1855 com María Amparo Muñoz y Borbón, 1.ª Condessa de Vista Alegre e em 1872 com a princesa Marguerite Adélaïde Marie d’Orléans. O seu filho August Czartoryski, Duque de Vista Alegre, foi beatificado pela igreja católica em 2004.

Walery Rzewuski (1837, Cracóvia – 1888, Cracóvia) foi um importante fotógrafo polaco do século XIX e conselheiro de Cracóvia. Foi autor de muitos retratos de figuras importantes do mundo da cultura da ciência, bem como de representantes da nobreza e da aristocracia, funcionários e homens de negócios — retratos estes que constituíam a base comercial dos seus estabelecimentos. Muito mais originais são as suas realizações no domínio da fotografia de teatro, em que mostrava os atores de forma dinâmica, em poses de papéis específicos. Foi o primeiro fotógrafo a captar numa fotografia as montanhas Tatra e muitos dos monumentos de Cracóvia, incluindo o Altar de Marien. Também se dedicou à fotografia etnográfica e à reprodução de pinturas dos seus contemporâneos, incluindo Jan Matejko.

Rzewuski era também socialmente ativo. Foi conselheiro da cidade de Cracóvia, tendo atuado a favor da regulação do leito do rio Vístula e da construção de um teatro municipal. Deixou um testamento no qual financiou um prémio para autores de livros de fotografia polacos e expressou o desejo de criar uma escola de fotografia em sua casa. O Museu da História da Fotografia em Cracóvia tem o seu nome em homenagem.

Władysław Czartoryski (Warsaw, 1828 - Boulogne-sur-Seine, 1894) was a Polish nobleman, exiled political activist and art collector.

From 1863 to 1864, he was the main diplomatic agent of the National Revolutionary Government (Rząd Narodowy) - a clandestine Polish supreme authority during the January Uprising - with the English, Italian, Swedish and Turkish governments.

He inherited the family"s large art collection, which he dedicated to expanding with Egyptian art objects acquired in Paris and Egypt. He made donations to the Polish Library in Paris, the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Polish Museum in Rapperswil, Switzerland. In 1865, he organised an exhibition of the 'Czartoryski Collection' in the 'Polish Room' of the Paris Decorative Arts Exhibition. In 1878, he reopened the Czartoryski Museum in Kraków, founded by his grandmother Izabela z Flemingów Czartoryska in 1801 in Puławy, but closed after the November Uprising of 1830.

He married María Amparo Muñoz y Borbón, 1st Countess of Vista Alegre, in 1855 and Princess Marguerite Adélaïde Marie d"Orléans in 1872. Their son August Czartoryski, Duke of Vista Alegre, was beatified by the Catholic Church in 2004.

Walery Rzewuski (1837, Kraków - 1888, Kraków) was an important Polish photographer of the 19th century and a Kraków councillor. He was the author of many portraits of important figures from the world of culture and science, as well as representatives of the nobility and aristocracy, officials and businessmen - portraits which formed the commercial basis of his establishments. Much more original are his achievements in the field of theatre photography, in which he showed actors in a dynamic way, in poses for specific roles. He was the first photographer to capture the Tatra Mountains and many of Krakow"s monuments, including the Marien Altar, in a photograph. He also devoted himself to ethnographic photography and to reproducing paintings by his contemporaries, including Jan Matejko.

Rzewuski was also socially active. He was a councillor for the city of Kraków, acting in favour of the regulation of the Vistula riverbed and the construction of a municipal theatre. He left a will in which he funded a prize for authors of Polish photography books and expressed his wish to set up a photography school at his home. The Museum of the History of Photography in Kraków is named in his honour.
