Impresso sobre papel de linho muito encorpado, com caracteres redondos muito nítido. Só foram usados alguns caracteres itálicos nas páginas finais nos nomes dos representantes das duas nações. Adornado na folha de rosto com o brasão real de D. Maria I de Portugal e duas iniciais decoradas no texto.

Exemplar com furos no festo indicando que já esteve cosido e encadernado, provavelmente em conjunto com outros folhetos.

Tratado bilingue impresso em língua portuguesa e castelhana. Composto por 19 artigos em que se ratificam e especificam artigos de tratados anteriores. Os ministros plenipotenciários que negociaram este tratado foram Inocêncio de Sousa Coutinho por Portugal e o conde de Florida Blanca por Espanha, sendo os secretários respetivamente Ayres de Sá e Mello e Joseph Galvez.

Rara edição, muito importante para a história do Brasil e para a historia diplomática de Portugal, em que se confirmam as clausulas do tratado de 1750 que definiu as atuais fronteiras brasileiras.

Em especial destacam-se os seguintes artigos:

- Artigo 3, que renova e revalida os pactos do artigo 25 do Tratado de Limites de 13 de Janeiro de 1750, (que se transcreve) estabelecendo os limites em relação á América Meridional nos termos estipulados no mesmo, que depois foram explicados no Tratado Preliminar de 1 de Outubro de 1777. Estabelece-se que para Portugal os limites se estenderão até as margens do rio Orinoco de uma e outra banda e desde Castilhos até ao Estreito de Magalhães e que para Espanha se estenderá até às margens de uma e outra banda do rio Amazonas, ou Maranhão e desde Castilhos até ao Porto de Santos. Mas pelo que toca ao interior da América Meridional, será indefinita esta obrigação e em qualquer caso de invasão, ou sublevação cada uma das coroas se ajudará e socorrerá a outra.

- Artigo 5, que refere o artigo 22 do Tratado de S. Ildefonso em que se pactuou que na Ilha, e Porto de Santa Catarina, e sua Costa imediata não se consentiria a esquadra de Espanha, bem como outras embarcações estrangeiras de guerra, ou de comércio.

- Artigo 6, que trata da extradição de falsificadores de moeda, desertores, criminosos, contrabandistas, garimpeiros clandestinos etc. etc. garantindo sempre ambos os monarcas que aos condenados à morte se comutava a pena em outras menos graves.

- Artigo 13, que estabelece o livre comércio entre os súbditos das duas nações, de Negros, sem ligar-se a contratos, e assentos prejudiciais, com que em outro tempo se fizeram com as Companhias Portuguesa, Francesa e Inglesa, as quais foi preciso extinguir, ou anular. Para tal e também para compensar de algum modo as cessões, restituições e renúncias feitas por Espanha no Tratado Preliminar de Limites de Outubro de 1777, Portugal faz a cedência definitiva a Espanha das Ilhas africanas de Ano Bom e Fernando Pó, bem como concede acesso ao comércio nos portos continentais em frente á Ilha de Fernando Pó: Rio Gabão, Camarões, São Domingos, Cabo Fermoso, etc. isto tudo sem poderem os espanhóis dificultar o comércio dos portugueses, especialmente em S. Tomé e Príncipe.

- Artigo 15, que estabelece na possessão portuguesa de S. Tomé e Príncipe o tráfico e comércio livre de Negros entre ambas as nações e que em caso de serem os portugueses a levá-los às Ilhas de Ano Bom e Fernando Pó, serão comprados e pagos a pronto, por preços justos, e proporcionais à qualidade dos escravos, desde que vendidos ao mesmo preço que os fornecidos por outras nações em vendas iguais nas mesmas ilhas Ano Bom e Fernando Pó.

- Artigo 16, que concede a Espanha um contrato por 4 anos para fornecimento de tabaco em rama produzido no Brasil, destinado ao comércio nas ditas ilhas e costa.

Printed on very thick linen paper, with very clear round characters. Only a few italicised characters have been used on the final pages in the names of the representatives of the two nations. Adorned on the title page with the royal coat of arms of King Maria I of Portugal and two initials decorated in the text.

Copy with holes in the inner hinge indicating that it has already been sewn and bound, probably together with other pamphlets.

Bilingual treaty printed in Portuguese and Spanish. Composed of 19 articles ratifying and specifying articles from previous treaties. The ministers plenipotentiary who negotiated this treaty were Inocêncio de Sousa Coutinho for Portugal and the Count of Florida Blanca for Spain, the secretaries being Ayres de Sá e Mello and Joseph Galvez respectively.

Rare edition, very important for the history of Brazil and for the diplomatic history of Portugal, in which the clauses of the 1750 treaty that defined the current Brazilian borders are confirmed.

In particular, the following articles stand out:

- Article 3, which renews and revalidates the covenants of Article 25 of the Treaty of Limits of 13 January 1750, (which is transcribed) establishing the limits in relation to South America in the terms stipulated therein, which were later explained in the Preliminary Treaty of 1 October 1777. It is established that for Portugal the limits will extend to the banks of the Orinoco River on either side and from Castilhos to the Strait of Magellan and that for Spain it will extend to the banks of either side of the Amazon River, or Maranhão and from Castilhos to the Port of Santos. But as far as the interior of South America is concerned, this obligation will be indefinite and in any case of invasion or uprising each of the crowns will help and assist the other.

- Article 5, which refers to Article 22 of the Treaty of St Ildefonso, in which it was agreed that the Spanish fleet and other foreign vessels of war or commerce would not be allowed on the island and harbour of Santa Catarina and its immediate coast.

- Article 6, which deals with the extradition of currency counterfeiters, deserters, criminals, smugglers, clandestine miners, etc. etc. Both monarchs always guaranteed that those sentenced to death would have their sentence commuted to a less serious one.

- Article 13, which establishes free trade between the subjects of the two nations, in Negroes, without being bound by contracts, and harmful agreements, which were made at another time with the Portuguese, French and English Companies, which had to be extinguished, or cancelled. To this end, and also to compensate in some way for the assignments, restitutions and renunciations made by Spain in the Preliminary Boundary Treaty of October 1777, Portugal made a definitive cession to Spain of the African islands of Ano Bom and Fernando Pó, as well as granting access to trade in the continental ports opposite the island of Fernando Pó: River Gabon, Cameroon, São Domingos, Cabo Fermoso, etc. all this without the Spanish being able to hinder Portuguese trade, especially in S. Tomé and Príncipe.

- Article 15, which establishes in the Portuguese possession of São Tomé and Príncipe the free traffic and trade of Negroes between both nations and that in the event that the Portuguese take them to the islands of Ano Bom and Fernando Pó, they will be bought and paid for in cash, at fair prices, and in proportion to the quality of the slaves, provided that they are sold at the same price as those supplied by other nations in equal sales on the same islands Ano Bom and Fernando Pó.

- Article 16, which grants Spain a contract for 4 years to supply raw tobacco produced in Brazil, destined for trade in the said islands and coast.
