Medalha em bronze, circular, de 19 cm. de diâmetro, acondicionada em caixa editorial de 26x26 cm. A caixa separa-se em duas metades: uma delas forrada em tecido vermelho, com uma cavidade própria para o acondicionamento da medalha; a outra, forrada em tecido sedoso, com o brasão de armas da Alemanha e a inscrição «Der Bundesminister des Innern» estampado a ouro.

Exemplar com danos na lombada da caixa e vestígio de dois fechos de metal na lateral, em falta.

A medalha, com cerca de 1.5 Kg de peso, retrata dois atletas gregos nus, um em cada face, um deles a praticar o lançamento do dardo, o outro, menos perceptivel, a imagem de um atleta a usar halterios (ἁλτήρ), dispositivo de nó duplo usado por atletas da Grécia antiga durante o treino de salto.

 Circular bronze medal, 19 cm in diameter, packed in a 26x26 cm editorial box. The box is divided into two halves: one lined in red fabric, with a cavity for the medal; the other, lined in silky fabric, with the coat of arms of Germany and the inscription 'Der Bundesminister des Innern' (Federal Ministery of the Interior) stamped in gold.

Copy with damage to the spine of the box and traces of two metal clasps on one of its sides, missing.

The medal, weighing about 1.5kg, depicts two naked Greek athletes, one on each side, one of them practising the javelin throw, the other, less noticeable, the image of an athlete using dumbbells (ἁλτήρ), a double-knot device used by athletes in ancient Greece during jumping training.
