Folha de rosto impressa a preto e vermelho decorada com uma gravura com a marca do impressor. Impressão a duas colunas em belos caracteres itálicos muito nítidos, apesar das suas pequenas dimensões, ornamentada com cabeções e letras iniciais decorativas.

Exemplar com pertence manuscrito na segunda folha de guarda: Da Livraria do Marquês de Alegrete - Cx 18. Nas Humanidades e com cota de biblioteca em etiqueta colada no verso da pasta anterior. A encadernação apresenta acentuado desgaste nas chaneiras e com perda de pele à cabeça e no pé da lombada. Apresenta pequenos picos de traça nas folhas de guarda e nas primeiras folhas, com restauro amador na folha de rosto e sublinhados coevos a tinta em algumas páginas.

As folhas preliminares contêm dedicatória e uma poesia à Juventude Cristã, o índice dos poetas, dois estudos sobre os géneros de poesia e os temas, bem como erratas. As folhas finais incluem um índice das regras da poesia, da moral e de questões filológicas. Contêm também o Privilégio do Rei de 8 de Outubro de 1615 e o seguinte cólofon: Lvgdvni, Ex Typographia Clavdii Cayne. M. D C X V [1615].

Vasta e muito abrangente colectânea, organizada e preparada por Alexandre Fichet, com as obras completas de cinquenta e oito poetas latinos, sendo quarenta e um deles do período que decorreu até ao momento da conversão do Imperador Constantino ao Cristianismo e os restantes dezassete do período posterior que escolheram como tema dominante a nova religião. Inclui os poetas que escreveram comédias e tragédias e contém biografias de todos os poetas incluídos.

Alexandre Fichet (Petit-Bornand, 1588 - Chambéry, 1659), padre jesuíta, teólogo, erudito e célebre pregador, foi Reitor do Colégio de Nimes e representante da Província de Leão da Companhia de Jesus, na Oitava Congregação Geral dos Jesuítas. Publicou, além desta antologia, as seguintes obras: Favus Patrum, 1617, Arcana Studiorum Omnium methodus, Lyon, 1649 e uma biografia de Santa Joana de Chantal, com o título: Les Saintes Reliques de L" Erothée, en la Saint vie de la Mére Jeanne Françoise de Fremiot, Baronne de Chantal, Lyon, 1662

Black and red printed title page decorated with an engraving bearing the printer's device. Printed in two columns in beautiful, very crisp italic characters despite their small size, ornamented with decorative headpieces and initials.

Copy with handwritten ownership title on second flyleaf Da Livraria do Marquês de Alegrete - Cx 18. Nas Humanidades and with a library reference number on a label glued on the back of the front paste down. The binding shows signs of wear at the hinges and loss of leather at the head and foot of the spine. There are small moth holes on the front flyleaves and first few pages, with amateur restoration on the title page and coeval ink underlining on a few pages.

The preliminary leaves contain dedication and a poem to Christian Youth, the index of poets, two studies on the genres of poetry and the themes, and errata. The final leaves include an index of the rules of poetry, morals and philological issues. They also contain the King's Privilege of 8 October 1615 and the following colophon: Lvgdvni, Ex Typographia Clavdii Cayne. M. D C X V [1615].

Vast and very comprehensive collection, organised and prepared by Alexandre Fichet, of the complete works of fifty-eight Latin poets, forty-one of them from the period up to the time of Emperor Constantine's conversion to Christianity and the remaining seventeen from the later period who chose the new religion as their dominant theme. It includes the poets who wrote comedies and tragedies and contains biographies of all the poets included.

Alexandre Fichet (Petit-Bornand, 1588 - Chambéry, 1659), Jesuit priest, theologian, scholar and celebrated preacher, was Rector of the College of Nimes and representative of the Leon Province of the Society of Jesus at the Eighth General Congregation of the Jesuits. In addition to this anthology, he published the following works: Favus Patrum, 1617, Arcana Studiorum Omnium methodus, Lyon, 1649 and a biography of Saint Jeanne de Chantal, entitled: Les Saintes Reliques de L" Erothée, en la Saint vie de la Mére Jeanne Françoise de Fremiot, Baronne de Chantal, Lyon, 1662
