Very rare work, banned from circulation in the Catalan kingdoms and countries, see Index Librorum Prohibitorum (Decree of 7-4-1642). 2nd edition, the 1st edition having been published in 1612 by the same printer. Bibliographic repertories only record the existence of 12 copies in all the libraries of the world (see USTC), 1 in Rome, 1 in Prague, 3 in various libraries of France other than the BNF, 1 in Germany, 3 in Holland, 2 in the UK.

Of them the copy of the Biblioteca Victorio Emanuele in Rome is lost, and is the only one catalogued in all Italian libraries according to the Catalogue of the SBN - Servizio Bibliografico Nazionale di Italia. No copies are known to be offered for sale in auctions and booksellers' catalogues.

Published anonymously, it is a translation of an Italian original through an English translation, according to the preface stated by its French translator, Jean Bouillon. The author argues that Catholic nobles and professional soldiers could fight in armies of Protestant kings, even against armies of Catholic kingdoms, as was the case in the wars of the Netherlands against the Catholic Netherlands belonging to Spain. It is a work with a strong anti-Jesuitical slant and is part of the propaganda published all over Europe in support of the two opponents and trying to gather soldiers from many European countries to fight on either side.

Samuel Schwarz (Zgierz, Poland, 1880 - Lisbon, 1953). Polish of Jewish origin was a mining engineer who graduated from the National Higher School in Paris in 1904 and practised his profession between 1904 and 1914 in various mines in Azerbaijan, Poland, Spain and Italy. He married Agatha Barbasch, the daughter of a banker, in Odessa in 1914. In that year he settled in Portugal due to the outbreak of the First World War, and worked in the tungsten and tin mines of Vilar Formoso and Belmonte. His father, Issucher Schwarz, was a noted scholar and his son followed in his footsteps, starting a career as an ethnographer, archaeologist and researcher of Jewish history in Portugal. He published numerous works, including: Inscrições Hebraicas em Portugal, Os cristãos-novos em Portugal no século XX e estudos sobre o reinado de D. João II (Hebrew Inscriptions in Portugal, The New Christians in Portugal in the 20th century and studies on the reign of King John II). He bought a building in Tomar where the oldest synagogue in Portugal used to be located and restored it and put together an exceptional library. In 1939 he donated the Tomar synagogue to the Portuguese State and after his death the library was acquired by the Portuguese State. Today it is in the possession of the Biblioteca Mário Sottomayor Cardia da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and is currently being catalogued.
