Obra impressa em caracteres árabes e latinos.

Erpenius, um orientalista holandês, estudou línguas orientais enquanto fez o seu curso de teologia. Viajou através da Europa e durante a sua estadia em Paris, teve aulas em árabe com um egípcio chamado Joseph Barbatus, também chamado Abu-dakni. Mais tarde e para desenvolver o seu conhecimento limitado, ele estudou mais aprofundadamente com um diplomata marroquino de origem andaluz chamado Ahmad ibn Qasim Al-Hajari.

Escreveu este Rudimenta Linguae que teve a sua primeira edição em 1620. Reimpressão com a importante adição de “Clavis dialectorum ', de Schultens, em que este discute a relação lexicológica entre o hebraico e árabe. Outra novidade é a antologia de provérbios, intitulado' Al-Nawabig '.

Printed in Arab and Latin characters. Erpenius a Dutch orientalist studied Oriental languages whilst taking his course of theology. He travelled trough Europe and during his stay in Paris he took lessons in Arabic from an Egyptian named Joseph Barbatus, otherwise called Abu-dakni. Later and to develop his limited knowledge he also took lessons from a Moroccan diplomat of Andalusian origins, named Ahmad ibn Qãsim Al-Hajari.

He wrote this Rudimenta Linguae which had its first edition in 1620. Reprint witth the important addition of Schultens' 'Clavis dialectorum', in which he discusses the lexicological relation between Hebrew and Arabic. Another new feature is the anthology of proverbs entitled 'Al-Nawabig'.
