Illustrated with a folded print depicting 5 coins from Crimea (heads and tails). Designed and aquatint engraved by P. Tardieu son and finished by P.F. Tardieu. Notation «Pl. I. Text with extracts of the captions of the coins printed in Arabian.

There is an important Note before the text: “This Note about the coins that were brought from Crimea by M.J. Reuilly was extracted from the book about Crimea travelling. Since these coins were unknown in France, M.J. paid homage to the rich and valuable collection of His Imperial and Royal Majesty [Napoleon Bonaparte] including them in His library. J.J.M. In colophon: "Printed with the sponsorship of J.J. Marcel, General Director of the Imperial Press, and Member of the Legion of Honour ».”

Louis-Mathieu Langlès (1763-1824) was a French academic, philologist, linguist, translator, author, librarian and orientalist. He was the curator of the oriental manuscripts at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Napoleonic France, and held the same position at the renamed Bibliothèque du Roi after the fall of the Empire. Along with Antoine Léonard de Chézy (1773–1832), Jean-François Champollion (1790–1832) and Jean-Pierre Abel-Rémusat (1788–1832), Langlès was a pupil and protégé of Silvestre de Sacy (1758–1838), becoming the first Egyptology Professor. In 1795, Langlès became the founder and director the École des Langues Orientales Vivantes in Paris, which is still operating under the revised name of Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO). Langlès was the specialist on India at the Bibliothèque Nationale of France at the time the Indian manuscripts began to be registered, becoming the BNF the centre for Indian studies.
