Encadernação do início do século XX, inteira de pele, com ferros a ouro ao gosto do século XVIII.

As duas páginas não numeradas incluem o Privilégio Real e as oito páginas finais contêm um catálogo dos autores que escreveram sobre os bichos-da-seda e sobre as amoreiras.

Obra sobre o cultivo das amoreiras com vista à criação de bichos-da-seda, tendo junto o texto da comunicação sobre a origem do mel, que foi lida na Assembleia Pública da Sociedade das Ciências de Montpellier a 16 de Dezembro 1762.

O autor, botânico francês (1710-1795) parte do que de melhor existe em anteriores tratados, acrescenta os conhecimentos de agricultores que se dedicavam especificamente ao cultivo desta árvore, em especial em alguns cantões do Languedoque, e aborda principalmente os seguintes aspectos: os terrenos, os viveiros, a plantação das amoreiras grandes, a plantação das amoreiras do tipo arbusto, a enxertia e a poda.

A obra insere-se na corrente de interesse pelo aperfeiçoamento dos métodos de trabalho na agricultura para servir de base ao desenvolvimento da indústria têxtil, num ambiente de crescente aprofundamento dos conhecimentos científicos.

The two unnumbered pages include the Royal Privilege and the final eight pages contain a catalogue of the authors who wrote about silkworms and mulberry trees.

Work about mulberry tree growing for the breeding of silkworms, together with the text of the communication about the origins of honey which was read at the Public Assembly of the Science Society of Montpellier on December 16th, 1762.

The author, a French Botanist (1710-1795), takes the best parts of previous treatises, adds the knowledge of farmers specifically dedicated to grow this type of tree, especially in some cantons of the Languedoque and approaches mainly the following five areas: the land, the plant nurseries, the planting of big mulberry trees, the planting of mulberry bushes, the grafting and the pruning.

This work can be framed within the context of the interest for the improvement of working methods in agriculture, serving as a base for the development of the textile industry, in an environment of a growing widening of scientific knowledge.
