In 8.º de 15x10,5 cm. Com [15], 128 fólios. Encadernação tardia inteira de pele com ferros a seco nas pastas.

Impressão adornada com xilogravura com a marca do impressor na folha de rosto, uma capitular de belo efeito; no texto utilizaram-se caracteres rotundos (perguntas) e góticos (respostas).

Edição do século XVI desta popular obra de Girolamo Manfredi, impressa pela primeira vez em 1474, em Bolonha. Dividida em dois livros, trata no primeiro da forma de conservar a saúde e no segundo sobre assuntos vários, principalmente sobre a anatomia do corpo humano. Escrita em forma de perguntas e respectivas respostas, é composta por um total de 565 perguntas. A data do frontispício difere da do cólofon, constando no primeiro a data de 1536 em numeração romana e no segundo, a de 1526.

Exemplar com leves picos de traça marginais.

Girolamo Manfredi (Bolonha, 1430-1493) foi um dos maiores mestres da Universidade de Bolonha, na segunda metade do século XV. Médico e astrólogo bolonhês, rapidamente alcançou uma grande reputação que atravessou as fronteiras da universidade. Entre os seus concidadãos, era especialmente famoso pela sua fecunda atividade no campo das previsões astrológicas. Foi médico pessoal de grandes figuras da sua cidade. Ficou conhecido para a posterioridade pelo extraordinário sucesso da sua obra Il Perche, tratado com uma compilação enciclopédica original dos conhecimentos médicos da sua época, reeditado até ao século XVII. Foi também autor de um tratado sobre a peste e um trabalho sobre anatomia.

16th century edition of this popular work of Girolamo Manfred - first printed in 1474 - in Bologna.

Divided into two books: the first one is about how to be healthy, and the second  approaches several issues about the anatomy of the human body. The dates in the frontispiece and in the colophon are different: 1536 in Roman numerals and 1526, respectively.

Girolamo Manfredi (Bologna, 1430-1493) was one of the greatest masters of the University of Bologna in the second half of the 15th century. Doctor and astrologer, he quickly achieved a reputation that spread beyond the boundaries of the university. He was especially famous for his fruitful activity in the field of astrological predictions. He was the personal physician of important families in Bologna. He became known by the extraordinary success of his work Il Perche, (Venice, 1512), a treatise with an encyclopedic compilation of original medical knowledge of his time, reprinted until the 17th Century. He was also the author of a treatise on the plague and a work on anatomy.
