1.ª edição (de acordo com o manuscrito na B.N.L.) de uma das mais importantes obras sobre caça escritas em Portugal, tanto pelo seu valor literário e linguístico como pela eminente personagem histórica que é o seu autor.

Divide-se em três partes: a primeira com 30 capítulos, a segunda e a terceira parte com 20 capítulos cada. Apresenta um conjunto de noções, regras e preceitos relativos à caça do porco-montês, ou javali, com algumas alusões à caça de ursos e cervos.

João I de Portugal (Lisboa, 1357 – Lisboa, 1433), foi o 10.º Monarca de Portugal, conhecido como o Mestre de Avis e apelidado de 'o de Boa Memória', nomeado Rei de Portugal nas Cortes de Coimbra e dos Algarves de 1385 até sua morte, sendo o primeiro monarca português da Casa de Avis. Educado desde criança para dirigir uma das mais importantes ordens religioso-militares do país, recebeu instrução desenvolvida que abrangia, desde conhecimentos pormenorizados de liturgia e doutrina católica, até bases de direito canónico e de administração pública, além da prática militar inerente à ordem.

1st edition (according to the manuscript in the Lisbon National Library) of one of the most important works on hunting written in Portugal, both for its literary and linguistic value and for the eminent historical character who is its author.

João I of Portugal (Lisbon, 1357 - Lisbon, 1433), was the 10th Monarch of Portugal, known as the Master of Avis and nicknamed 'the one of Good Memory', appointed King of Portugal at the Courts of Coimbra and the Algarves from 1385 until his death, being the first Portuguese monarch of the House of Avis. Educated from a young age to lead one of the most important religious-military orders in the country, he received a developed education that ranged from detailed knowledge of liturgy and Catholic doctrine to the basics of canon law and public administration, as well as the military practice inherent to the order.
